LARGE QUARTZ PLATE

These are photographs of the largest documented quartz plate ever extracted in the State of California.  Such complete specimens of this size are extremely rare worldwide.  This exquisite beauty must be seen to be fully appreciated.






White base to translucent with hundreds of clear crystals.  Multiple well defined suture lines with interlocking crystals running from end to end.
Crystals show a wide variety of habits, with much twinning, different sizes, shapes, and clarity, fadens, veils, and inclusions.  
Evidence of seismic activity is well displayed in this museum quality stone.

Measures 4 ft x 4 ft x 20 inches high.   Weight is estimated by displacement method at 1,500 pounds.
